2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV Safety Rating and Features
These days, safety is taken for granted on our vehicles. What some don’t realize, however, is that not all vehicles are created equal when it comes to safety, even with all the advancements and standards implemented for vehicles in the modern day. Some are simply safer than others. So, in order to find the safest vehicles, you’ll want to pay close attention to the vehicle’s safety rating and the vehicle’s safety features. Once you do that, you’ll find that the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV stands out among the rest.
Many vehicles may have a decent crash test rating, but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety helps to identify vehicles that are the best of the best by naming them either a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+. Impressively, the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV for 2017 and 2018 earned the Top Safety Pick+ recognition.
GLC SUV Safety Technology
To earn the above rating, the GLC SUV needed to earn “good” ratings in crashworthiness tests that include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. Moreover, the vehicle managed to earn a “superior” rating for front crash prevention.
The GLC was able to achieve this rating thanks to COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS®, which managed to avoid IIHS collision testing at low speeds of 12 mph and 25 mph. Of course, this is a Mercedes-Benz, so this isn’t the only safety technology you’ll find. There is also optional static and dynamic LED headlights, helping to light up the road better than halogen lights. We also can’t forget about Blind Spot Assist, which uses radar to alert you to vehicles in your blind spot with a light up notification on the side door mirrors.
